Agency in AI Image Creation: Part 1

Agency in AI Image Creation

a co-creation workshop with CEDaR

Thursday, June 19 | 12:30-2:00pm

CEDaR Space (104A Buchanan Tower)

Generative AI is here—and it’s changing how we see, imagine, and create.

In this hands-on, beginner-friendly two-part workshop, we’ll explore what it means to make images with AI—and how to do so on your own terms. Using ChatGPT and DALL·E as our creative partners, we’ll investigate how prompts shape output, where artistic agency lives in these interactions, and what it means to co-create with a machine.

Part 1: Context & Creative Planning

We’ll begin with an accessible introduction to AI and visual generation—how it works, how it’s evolving, and how agency shows up in the prompt. Through case studies and discussion, we’ll explore the ethics of image creation, questions of authorship and copyright, and the limitations and possibilities of generative tools. You’ll then begin planning a poster design that expresses a personal or social value, using ChatGPT and DALL·E to generate custom image prompts and visual elements.

Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.

RSVP here, and we will follow up to confirm your spot based on availability.
