What if computers could understand the spirit, the stories, and the very essence of Indigenous culture? I will story my research that uses Plains Cree (nehiyaw) knowledge to not just build software and hardware; but weave new ways of thinking about computing. From programming with Cree syllabics re-imagining keyboards inspired by the Cree star chart, reimagining technology through an Indigenous lens isn't just about making apps and computer components; it's about creating a wholistic Indigenous computing framework—a braiding of Indigenous tradition and technological innovation.

This is a hybrid event co-hosted with the UBC Language Sciences Institute.
