Video Production Training

2022

Funded by the Grant for Catalyzing Research Clusters (GCRC) through the Office of the Vice President for Research Innovation at UBC, CEDaR and the Relational Technologies Research Cluster provided an inaugural training opportunity for UBC graduate students in Spring 2022.

Through a series of workshops led by UBC Studios, participants gained an introduction to the skills involved in planning, shooting, and editing videos. The training opportunity focussed on developing a short 2-3 minute explainer video for CEDaR’s locative audio project on the hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ street signs on UBC’s Vancouver campus. Students worked together to storyboard and shoot footage for the explainer video, but each student produced their own individual edit.

As part of the training and knowledge exchange initiative, participants also became part of CEDaR’s skillshare directory to mentor Relational Technologies cluster members, students, and community partners who are developing video and new media projects.
